UNDERGRADUATE

LSU’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions & Student Aid is in charge of the selection of scholarships for international freshman and transfer students.  All LSU scholarships for international students are merit-based; LSU does not offer need-based scholarships to international students.  NOTE: International Services does not play a role in determining which students receive scholarships.

Since LSU does not have a scholarship that covers all expenses for an academic year, all international applicants seeking F-1 or J-1 student status must provide a completed Affidavit of Support form for at least the balance between the amount of the confirmed award and the total estimated expenses.  Please note: International Services cannot process your I-20 or DS-2019 Certificate of Eligibility without proper certification of your total financial support.  (For the most current estimated expenses, please click here.)

GRADUATE

International graduate students have opportunities to apply for assistantships, fellowships and other awards.  NOTE: International Services does not play a role in determining which students receive financial aid assistance.

  • Assistantships/Fellowships

Academic departments recruit and hire graduate assistants on an individual basis; therefore, you must contact the individual department for an application.  All communication regarding graduate assistantships should be directed to the chairperson of the department.  For more information, visit the “Financial Assistance” section on the LSU Graduate School’s Web site at http://gradlsu.gs.lsu.edu/#.

  • Tuition Awards

Departmental nomination and admission/enrollment in an academic degree program is required in order to be eligible for consideration of a tuition award.  This award does not cover University fees.  (For the most current fees, visit LSU’s Office of Budget and Planning’s Web site at http://www.bgtplan.lsu.edu/fees.htm.)
